Short-Term Rentals in Poultney

The Poultney Planning Commission has been discussing short-term rentals (STRs), generally defined as homes or rooms rented for stays of fewer than 30 nights.

In May 2026, the Planning Commission developed a working draft of a Short-Term Rental Ordinance for discussion and public input. Following public comment and discussion over the summer, the Commission voted on September 16, 2026, to table further work on the draft while it completes its Capital Planning project and other current work.

Community members are welcome to continue sharing comments or sign up for updates using the form below. Comments already submitted remain part of the Planning Commission’s record and do not need to be resubmitted. While further work on the May 2026 draft is currently tabled, both existing and future comments will remain available to the Commission should it return to the topic.

If the Commission returns to substantive discussion of short-term rentals in the future, subscribers will receive advance notice of opportunities for public participation.
