Regulating Short Term Rentals

Short-term rentals—homes or rooms rented for fewer than 30 nights—have become a growing part of Poultney’s housing landscape. While they can bring visitors and vitality to the community, they can also reduce long-term housing options and create new challenges around parking, safety, and neighborhood impact.

The Planning Commission is drafting Short-Term Rental Ordinance in an effort to strike a fair balance: preserving housing for residents, maintaining the quiet character of our neighborhoods, and ensuring that rental properties operate responsibly under clear, consistent standards.
